چکیده

This study focused on the effects of n-butanol addition combustion characteristics n-heptane counterflow diffusion flame under pressures 1, 3, and 5 atm by a detailed kinetic simulation. The added volume fraction ranged from 0 to 50%. mass averaged velocity fuel streams was selected ensure momentum flux balance approximately constant for investigated flames. Flame structures mole profiles impacted major species, free radicals, intermediate species were analyzed concentrating formations soot precursors oxygenated air pollutants. results showed that with n-butanol, temperature decreased formation main such as C2H2 C6H6 inhibited. can be attributed reduced rate production these species. increased significantly, profile moved towards side increasing pressure. Moreover, observably promoted pressure increased. concentrations radical H, O, OH significantly but slightly addition, which might have been caused chemical effect n-butanol.

On the combustion chemistry of n-heptane and n-butanol blends.

High-speed gas sampling experiments to measure the intermediate products formed during fuel decomposition remain challenging yet important experimental objectives. This article presents new speciation data on two important fuel reference compounds, n-heptane and n-butanol, at practical thermodynamic conditions of 700 K and 9 atm, for stoichiometric fuel-to-oxygen ratios and a dilution of 5.64 (...

Effects of strain rate on high-pressure nonpremixed n-heptane autoignition in counterflow

The effect of steady strain on the transient autoignition of n-heptane at high pressures is studied numerically with detailed chemistry and transport in a counterflow configuration. Skeletal and reduced n-heptane mechanisms are developed and validated against experiments over a range of pressure and stoichiometries. Two configurations are investigated using the skeletal mechanism. First, the ef...

Experimental and Numerical Investigation of n-Heptane/Air Counterflow Nonpremixed Flame Structure

An experimental and numerical investigation of prevaporized n-heptane nitrogen-diluted nonpremixed flames is reported. The major objective is to provide well-resolved experimental data regarding the structure and emission characteristics of these flames, including profiles of major species (N2, O2, C7H16, CO2, CO, H2), hydrocarbon intermediates (CH4, C2H4, C2H2, C3Hx), and soot precursors (C6H6...

Structure of partially premixed n-heptane–air counterflow flames

To avoid the complexities associated with the droplet/vapor transport and nonuniform evaporation processes, a fundamental investigation of liquid fuel combustion in idealized configurations is very useful. An experimental–computational investigation of prevaporized n-heptane nonpremixed and partially premixed flames established in a counterflow burner is described. There is a general agreement ...

EXTINCTION AND AUTOIGNITION OF n-HEPTANE IN COUNTERFLOW CONFIGURATION

A study was performed to elucidate the mechanisms of extinction and autoignition of n-heptane in strained laminar flows under non-premixed conditions. A previously developed detailed mechanism made up of 2540 reversible elementary reactions among 556 species was the starting point for the study. The detailed mechanism was previously used to calculate ignition delay times in homogeneous reactors...
